Share: Monday (Minnesota) Music

The Minnesota State Fair opens on Thursday, so today is a great Monday to celebrate Minnesota music.

You can see/hear Minnesotan Mason Jennings (who grew up in Pittsburgh) perform "Raindrops on a Kitchen Floor" from his the yet-to-be-released Minnesota album here. In the meantime, click below to listen to his song "Dakota," in which he sings, "I sorta met Dakota Introduced by Minnesota."

Like Mason Jennings, Haley Bonar is a Minnesota transplant who Minnesota claims with pride. On her web site, Haley says her new album is "largely a reflection of a wonderful and lonely year spent in Portland, Oregon." Now she's back in Minneapolis, where you can hear this song, "Raggedy Man," on my favorite local radio station.

And lastly, homegrown Minnesota group Halloween, Alaska, whose music has aptly been discribed as textured, organic and mesmerizing. (You can read the reviews here.) "Dance by Accident" is from their forthcoming album All Night the Calls Came In. Dance By Accident by Halloween, Alaska
I hope you enjoy this small collection of Minnesota music. Share your favorite Minnesota or homestate music suggestions with me here or on twitter. I'd love to hear what you love listening to!
