What ELSE (Explore Learn Share Etc.) Wednesday

As hot weather and school shopping both squeeze into these final days of summer, I find myself anticipating old routines and new adventures simultaneously. Some of that old + new is reflected here:

I'm exploring where life will lead me in the coming months. I'm intruiged by this September event but haven't decided which piece (if any) to attend. Also, Karen Walrond, my favorite blogger, recently revealed that she's working on developing an online guided self-study program that sounds fantastic; I'm hoping to sign up when registration opens.

I have signed up with Google+ and am learning how to navigate this new social media site. Almost every day I'm adding to my circles and understanding a little more about how Google+ works.

I'm sharing this fun "Theft of the Dial" session with author Neil Gaiman.

My three favorite parts of the session: (1) Michelle Shocked's "Anchorage" and thinking about my friend Fernande who died about 15 years ago; (2) an entertaining song called "Vegemite (The Black Death)" performed by Amanda Palmer, who happens to be Neil Gaiman's wife; (3) "The Problem with Saints," a humerous song sung by Neil himself as part of a recording project to raise money for inner-city kids in Boston. (You can hear "The Problem with Saints" and read about the project here at Neil Gaiman's blog.)

Etc.): I'm trying to add creativity and art back into my daily life, which has been discombobulated since we had to tear apart our basement (and my creative space) back in late May. Yesterday I worked on a couple art collage projects using the ironing board, which is in the porch, as a work surface. There's no sense in waiting for a perfect time and space!
