What ELSE (Explore Learn Share Etc.) Wednesday

Welcome to the first Wednesday of back-to-school bliss! It's only school-day two, but my girls have quickly gotten back in step and reported that day one went great. Keeping busy on my own, this is a bit of what I'm doing:

I'm exploring a new-to-us way of organizing school papers and to-do lists. The day after I read this piece about using inboxes and wipe-off boards, my girls spotted some cute dry-erase boards as we were walking through Target. (I don't see the exact boards online. They're sort of like this but white with one-inch colored borders; we each chose a different color along with some colorful dry-erase markers.) Now colorful lists decorate our fridge door, and instead of telling the girls what task to do, I say, "check your list" and let them choose what's next. Though I also bought inboxes, I'm not sure if they will work for us where they hang near the back door. I hate to clutter up the fridge even more, but I think magnetic inboxes would work best for our homework system.

As I re-learn how my alarm clock works and memorize new bus schedules,
I am also learning to get back to invaluable routines I let slide over the summer: weekday meditating and morning journaling along with regular workouts at
the gym.

I'm sharing news that Damon Albarn of the Gorillaz and Blur is working with musicians local to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on an album called Kinshasa One Two to be released in October. The album's profits will benefit Oxfam’s work in the DRC, which aims to improve clean water access and sanitation along with supporting human rights and ending conflict in the region.

Etc.): Today I'm planning to tackle number two on this simplify-your-life list. I'm a little nervous to take action, but it's the right thing for me to do. Having publicly announced my plan, I will pick up the phone as soon as I click PUBLISH ...
