What ELSE (Explore Learn Share Etc.) Wednesday
With Halloween behind us, my daughters' first term of the school year comes to a close, and Thanksgiving and Christmas approach at full speed. Here's what I've been doing as November has started off at a trot:
Lately my daily to-do maps have indicated a lack in the category of exploring. One way I hope to get back to more exploring—even if it's armchair exploring—is to watch a few episodes of Globe Trekker.
Something I began learning last Christmas season and hope to continue learning this Christmas is to let go of consumerism. I want to give gifts out of love, not obligation. I want to give what I can afford and avoid adding to my family's debt. (Have I mentioned I work part-time at a toy store? Spending time surrounded by awesome toys and lots of people buying gifts makes it even more difficult for this lesson to sink into my head.)
During my participation in Karen Walrond's Path Finder Course, taking a blog writing course emerged as a personal goal. To that end, I've been looking at some online options and am sharing a few of them here: This is an interactive guidebook that was recommended to me by a fellow Path Finder; this is a multimedia course that I've heard about around the web; and this is a winter e-course that's on the top of my list
of options (so far).
(Etc.): This weekend my older daughter turns 12. During the rest of this week, I'll be scrambling to finish (ahem, let me be honest: start and finish)
a collage to reflect her 11th year. I'll also be cleaning house and putting birthday party details together for the gaggle of girls who will invade our house for a couple hours one afternoon. Wish me luck!
What ELSE? What have you been exploring or learning? What do you have to share, (etc.)? I'm especially insterested in advice regarding Christmas gift giving and in blogging e-course suggestions. As always, leave a comment or send me a tweet!
