Share: Valuable Nuggets from TEDxTC

What ELSE (Explore Learn Share Etc.) Wednesday

It's a short week, and my family is ready for a break. We're also looking forward to seeing my sister and her family coming to Minnesota for the long Thanksgiving weekend! In the meantime, I have continued to explore, learn and share:

This week it was fun exploring what I can do with water-soluble pastels, which I discovered through this art collage book. In the Thanksgiving card I sent to my great aunt in Florida (pictured below), I used pastels to color the "t," write the greeting and add some distressing/shading. I found it difficult to load just the right amount of water on the brush so the color wouldn't wash out completely. I look forward to practicing with these crayons on more projects.

Speaking of projects, this is crunch time as I try to complete a few to give as Christmas gifts. To that end, I've been learning the more immediate value of picking up the phone to get things done. If I had stuck with email communications for one particular project, I would be a couple steps back in my progress.

Today I'm sharing a link related to the TEDxTC event I recapped here earlier this week. In her TEDxTC talk, engineering professor AnnMarie Thomas shared a photo of a hands-on playground, an Abenteuerspielplatz (literally "adventure playground") that allows kids to use real tools on site. (Here is the link to the English translation of the wiki entry.)

(Etc.): On twitter, I discovered @Visualicity, through which I've seen some awesome images of mind maps. If you have any great mind maps to pass along to me, I would love to hear from you!

What ELSE? What have you been exploring or learning? What do you have to share, (etc.)? Comment here or via twitter. Best wishes for a safe and happy Thanksgiving weekend!
